An American in Osaka

I'm William — born in North Carolina, living in Osaka since 2008. What started as a year on the JET Programme turned into a life: a Japanese wife, three kids, permanent residency, and more years than I can sometimes believe.

Found in Japan started in 2020 as a way to share what I actually see and experience living here — not the highlight reel, not the tourist trail, but the everyday stuff that makes Japan worth understanding. The food, the culture, the way things work, the things that surprise you even after almost two decades.

Before YouTube I spent years in education — working with the JET Programme, Osaka City's Board of Education, and leading a team of 130 foreign English teachers across Osaka City. Japan has been my classroom as much as my home.
